Visuals for Avenge Vulture Attack Launch Party - Video.

Albeit 2 months later than planned, but here it is. A small video I put together of the night myself and 65 made visuals for AVA's launch party. Shame we didn't get a lot of moving image footage during the actual gig itself, I'll ask round to see if anyone has some footage they'd like to share.

AVA w/65: The Return of the beast!

A summary of the last few posts: Myself and the guys at 65 have been doing visuals for Avenge Vulture Attack, this was the last teaser we produced, directed by myself:

Myself and fellower 65-er Jon (as well as other friends too) went down to the night to take some snaps, while at the same time I was also in charge of the the set list videos we did for them as they played the gig itself (Not exactly VJing, but just making sure everything started/ended when it should).
It went down really well, the videos, the band, the people, it was a really fun night.
Below are some photos of the night, I took some short video clips too which I'm going to compose together as a separate video, but hopefully I'll grab some other footage too from some of the other photographers/videographers that were there.

 Monitors with our looped visuals.

Projection at the back on the wall too.

MEANWHILE!

Few updates, I designed this website for Superfit, at my internship at CHK Design which is a fitness company as well as 406 which is the space it shares, I'm not a huge fan of website design but I'm getting more comfortable with it, check it here.

More importantly (for me, anyway) finally released Avenge Vulture Attack music video for their single 'Renew'.

It's all hand drawn and photographed by myself, it took best part of 4/5 months to produce, really enjoyed doing it. I'm quite smug about it.

See YA!

AVA w/65

Me and the guys at 65 have been creating some visuals for Avenge Vulture Attack. In particular for their EP launch, we've released 2 'teaser' videos for the album itself, have a look:

Directed by Masum Khan

Directed by Leo Vick

I'm directing the next one which will be released shortly, we may even have a 4th one if we have enough time. Also, the 'eagerly anticipated' music video I did for them will be released shortly, watch this space.

Aloha!

Bit of catch up blog:

Got a part time job at 'For Art's Sake' in Ealing, a nice little art shop where we take orders for framing and mounting as well as selling prints and ceramics. It's a cool little job, I've done a couple of shifts already, I'm learning and picking things up each time, so glad to have my money worry lifted.

As well as this I started a new internship at CHK Design, near London Fields. A small team of about 6 of us in this enormous warehouse shared by other companies/freelancers. It's incredibly friendly and I feel I've settled in only after 4 days of working there.

65 is still growing, we're working on the same 2 projects at the moment, some very interesting results with the Avenge Vulture Attack Videos! Stay tuned for that. But more importantly we have a REAL website (under construction) but it exists! GO HERE

I also designed gig tickets and a poster/flyer recently for the band The Heist, for their upcoming album launch on Sunday. Check it.

(Cheers to Pique for the photo)

I also feel this video should get more exposure, it's so funny, made by Mr funny man Alex Cruden:

So yeah catch you lot soon, I'll try and do more frequent posts I promise!

Pickpocket and a video.

Saturday night in, what better way to spend it, by reading my drivel!

Last weekend, my partners in crime Keir Carroll and Mikee Reed and I went to this house party all the way down in New Cross way, had a swell of time, drank lots, talked lots, drank talked, talk dranked, yada yada. It got to the early hours, myself and Keir decided to depart, Mikee had left earlier due to having work the next day, the hard working fellow, so Keir and I ventured to the 453 bus stop to go all the way to central London so that we could change for our necessary buses for the last leg of our individual journeys (The one annoying thing about living at home in west London is that it takes an Iron Age to get home from south of the river).
We got to Trafalgar Square, said our goodbyes, went our separate ways. I cut through Soho to get to my bus stop on Bond Street. I was on the verge of coming onto Regent Street when this guy approached me.
He was normal build, I'd say slimmer than me, wearing this huge orange rucksack on his back (duh) didn't seem intimidating in the slightest, he comes up to with a big smile and says:
"Hey man! I show you something!"
He's Polish.
"Erm, what?"
"Yeah man! Look! I show you some Karate moves man!"
"Um, no thanks"
I step to the left.
He moves in front of me.
Step to the right. (Two claps this time! Couldn't resist)
He does the same.
The ol' mirror-roo trick.
"Hey! Come on friend! It's real cool!"
" *Sigh* Okay then"
He proceeds to do what you can only assume as very poorly executed Karate chops, only slightly touching me, first on my shoulders, then my arms, then my sides.
"No no man! You gotta block it! It's more fun that way!"
"Oh.. okay"
I reluctantly parry his next combo.
"Heh! Cool guy man! That's was way fun no?"
"Yeah"
"Okay man! See ya! Have a great night!"

He walks off and I'm glad the strange fellow has stopped talking to me. I turn onto Regent Street and reach for my back pocket for my Oyster card.

My wallet is gone.

Fuck.

That Polish Sensei tricked me!

I immediately turn round and like any other angry Brit would, walked very angrily and quickly with my arms swaying from side to side. Big frown too. Man, you shoulda seen that frown!
I caught up with him, he seemed very nonchalant, but I always get that impression with the back of peoples heads.
I step in front of him.
"Oi! You took my wallet!"
"....Eh no I didn't man..."
I see my monochrome wallet in his hand.
I snatch it from him.
As you can imagine I was pretty angry.
"You are a prick!"
"Hey man! It was funny no?"
"What?!"
"Ahhhhh it's funny no?"
"Fuck you!"

I turned round and stormed off.
That showed him.
Yeah!
Yeah.
Yeah...

A part of me would of just loved to of smacked him straight in the mouth, but I couldn't find it in me, perhaps if he refused to give my wallet back, I would of stepped it up a notch, I would like to think so anyway.
It's like, have you ever been in a situation where you're really het up and you demand an apology from the person who's made you angry, they deliver the apology straight away, you've heard what you wanted, but then you get all confused, half angry, half fine? That's what it was like.

So yeah! Pretty entertaining 5am stroll through London.

Moving on...

Below is what I'd like to call a 'canape' for the Avenge Vulture Attack music video coming up. It's just the intro to the song, so it has no sound and requires a bit of tweaking, but you get the idea. And yes, that is my hand. I'm still on targetwhich is great, although I am dreading a couple of the scenes coming up as I know they will take a good amount of time individually to do.

Tell me what you think, wouldn't mind some opinions or suggestions on how to better it.

Corr blimey, big post today, aren't you lucky!

Avenge Vulture Attack Music Video.

Hello Hello.

Action packed weekened! I'm currently doing a music video for the band Avenge Vulture Attack at the moment, I'm doing a cross between a hand drawn animation and a stop frame animation. This weekend we did the stop frame animation part which was fun to do, but very tiring. Especially as the snow kept challenging us on the Saturday like an annoying little brother (a cold one at that, maybe the type that flicks your ears when they're cold).

(All photos haven't been edited by the way)
Above, the guys are getting their make up and hair done. Over Saturday and Sunday it took between 2- 3 hours each day to get ready, which seems long but considering it's 3 guys and a gal getting their make up, hair and clothes done, seems about right. Especially as we were up really early on both days.

Here are some 'action' shots of the shoot. We had fun with it and that's what it should be about. If we tried to be too serious with it, we would risk coming across as cheesy or trying too hard and ultimately it will backfire on us and we'll be the laughing stock of the whole music world!! (Okay not QUITE that bad, but it wouldn't be nice for either myself or the band to look cheesy!). Overall,  a lot of fun in the cold snow and I'm aiming for the hand drawn animation that accompanies this will portray the same tone.

Group shot! (L-R clockwise) Juss - Bass, Ella - Vocals, Jenny - stylist, Lee - Make up, Ben -drums, Drew - Guitar. And myself right in the middle.

All in all a fun weekend but ever so tiring. I took a total of 738 photos, which will be just over a minute's worth of footage. Going to be fun to organize!

That's all for now folks.
