Summary of updates and schtuff.

Aloha.

As promised a bit more of a visual-y one of recent shenanigans:

- First up, I was hired to do a commission for a wedding present. It was from a group of friends to the bride, who wanted to re-capture special moments they shared with her. Originally, it was going to be in the format of a book but the timescale would've proved to have been very tight to accomplish this. Instead we settled for a collage illustration of the different memories combined. This would be in the style of an old school, vintage-y pencil feel to help evoke the aesthetic of memories past. I was sent over a rough idea to work from and I developed it from there (Forget how much fun pencil is to use!). I also made a cheeky vine of some parts of it below:

- The Turpentine Ltd down Brixton way is a lovely new shop which has opened on Coldharbour lane. Such a great location and lots of nice bits and bobs. If you're ever in the area you'd be silly not to pop in and admire the treats that are on display. This includes a selection of my greeting cards, let's see how South London fares with them!

- Next up was a commission for a clients friends birthday, it's a illustration based on the original 'We can do it!' poster but re-appropriating it for their friend and with a few added accessories. Really enjoyed doing this. I've been doing more airbrushing over the past few months, it's so addictive building up blends of colour and shape.
I'm starting to consider combining this method more into my own work. Below are a few screenshots of the work when it was in progress. I'm really drawn to the first screenshot, the rough unfinished look could be quite a nice aesthetic to play with, especially with the element of rogue negative space.
I've also made a GIF of the process, just wanted to show much can change along the route of making an illustration like this (apologies for the quality of GIF, it really doesn't like computing lots of colours):

- As well as all this I'm in the middle of helping friend, actor and comedian Keir Carroll develop his own showcasing website. Now, I'm not much of web designer in general, I've built two websites from scratch and absolutely loathed it. What we're doing is similar to my own website, we'll build it up using cargo collective templates and then modify bits and bobs with an upgraded account if we wish to do so.
Bish, bosh, bash.
This will be completed in the next month or so, in time for Keir graduating from his MA in Acting at East 15 and taking a twirl in the acting world. Huzzah.

Business cards - Keir Carroll.

I designed and printed some business cards for friend, actor and comedian Keir Carroll.

I did get a bit startled when uploading all these headshots for print. So many faces.

Episode One - HMS Crown.

Hello hello.

Been a bit quiet recently, I've been working on this video with comrade Keir Carroll. This is our first episode of a surreal series we would like to do, playing to our strengths and showing off our skills. I hope you enjoy:

Pickpocket and a video.

Saturday night in, what better way to spend it, by reading my drivel!

Last weekend, my partners in crime Keir Carroll and Mikee Reed and I went to this house party all the way down in New Cross way, had a swell of time, drank lots, talked lots, drank talked, talk dranked, yada yada. It got to the early hours, myself and Keir decided to depart, Mikee had left earlier due to having work the next day, the hard working fellow, so Keir and I ventured to the 453 bus stop to go all the way to central London so that we could change for our necessary buses for the last leg of our individual journeys (The one annoying thing about living at home in west London is that it takes an Iron Age to get home from south of the river).
We got to Trafalgar Square, said our goodbyes, went our separate ways. I cut through Soho to get to my bus stop on Bond Street. I was on the verge of coming onto Regent Street when this guy approached me.
He was normal build, I'd say slimmer than me, wearing this huge orange rucksack on his back (duh) didn't seem intimidating in the slightest, he comes up to with a big smile and says:
"Hey man! I show you something!"
He's Polish.
"Erm, what?"
"Yeah man! Look! I show you some Karate moves man!"
"Um, no thanks"
I step to the left.
He moves in front of me.
Step to the right. (Two claps this time! Couldn't resist)
He does the same.
The ol' mirror-roo trick.
"Hey! Come on friend! It's real cool!"
" *Sigh* Okay then"
He proceeds to do what you can only assume as very poorly executed Karate chops, only slightly touching me, first on my shoulders, then my arms, then my sides.
"No no man! You gotta block it! It's more fun that way!"
"Oh.. okay"
I reluctantly parry his next combo.
"Heh! Cool guy man! That's was way fun no?"
"Yeah"
"Okay man! See ya! Have a great night!"

He walks off and I'm glad the strange fellow has stopped talking to me. I turn onto Regent Street and reach for my back pocket for my Oyster card.

My wallet is gone.

Fuck.

That Polish Sensei tricked me!

I immediately turn round and like any other angry Brit would, walked very angrily and quickly with my arms swaying from side to side. Big frown too. Man, you shoulda seen that frown!
I caught up with him, he seemed very nonchalant, but I always get that impression with the back of peoples heads.
I step in front of him.
"Oi! You took my wallet!"
"....Eh no I didn't man..."
I see my monochrome wallet in his hand.
I snatch it from him.
As you can imagine I was pretty angry.
"You are a prick!"
"Hey man! It was funny no?"
"What?!"
"Ahhhhh it's funny no?"
"Fuck you!"

I turned round and stormed off.
That showed him.
Yeah!
Yeah.
Yeah...

A part of me would of just loved to of smacked him straight in the mouth, but I couldn't find it in me, perhaps if he refused to give my wallet back, I would of stepped it up a notch, I would like to think so anyway.
It's like, have you ever been in a situation where you're really het up and you demand an apology from the person who's made you angry, they deliver the apology straight away, you've heard what you wanted, but then you get all confused, half angry, half fine? That's what it was like.

So yeah! Pretty entertaining 5am stroll through London.

Moving on...

Below is what I'd like to call a 'canape' for the Avenge Vulture Attack music video coming up. It's just the intro to the song, so it has no sound and requires a bit of tweaking, but you get the idea. And yes, that is my hand. I'm still on targetwhich is great, although I am dreading a couple of the scenes coming up as I know they will take a good amount of time individually to do.

Tell me what you think, wouldn't mind some opinions or suggestions on how to better it.

Corr blimey, big post today, aren't you lucky!

Memory Lane.

I was purging through my iPhoto library earlier to make more room for my current projects and I couldn't help but come across a bunch of photos of when me and the guys lived in the infamous 'Studio 65'. Below are some of my favourites that bring back funny memories or events that happened during our 2 year residence there.
Leo in Maz's room, for some reason that day a strange smell was coming from Maz's wall. The mystery was never solved.

The time we quarantined Leo in his room.

This was after one of the first times we ever did the Jumbo Chicken Challenge at The Montague Arms in New Cross. This place is epic for Sunday Roasts, I couldn't recommend it any higher. I'm pretty sure Maz finished off someone else's plate too, that cheeky rascal.

This was an exhibition Leo, Maz and I held in our garden for one of our projects. It looked brilliant at the end of it after a lot of hard work. I remember Maz got a better mark than me and Leo by 1% even though it was a group project. Clear favouritism.

On the same night 'Dimitri' (aka Mikee Reed) was our performing artist for the eve by playing a saw. Yep.

Myself and Adam chilling on our roof when I was recording timelapses for my 'Consume' project. Lovely little cotch to chill on a summers day.

GOT MA MEAT N BREAD. WHA ELSE A GUY NEED? The night Leo and I made our own burgers. They were amazing.

Leo and Tim Bott chilling on my bed in the summer. Think this was the morning after a party we all went to in New Cross. HAVIN' A GOSS!

Everyone loves my bed. Leo, Maz and Adam. Not sure what was going on here but it sure wasn't the only time we were huddled round a laptop.

Yeah... don't think Leo ever knew about this! (Hi Leo) We nicked one of his descriptive tags from our end of year exhibition and placed it on a toilet. That's how we roll.

Classic Jon smile.

Keir in my room in between takes for the film noir I shot for my third year project.

'RE:session'.

Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for, the full version of of my debut short 'RE:session'. It lasts 16mins or so, it may seem a lot but it isn't really! I apologize for the quality as per usual seeing as I had to compress this to able to fit onto my vimeo account (too long for youtube). But yeah! I hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave any comments too. Also, a special thank you to EVERYONE who was involved, too many to type here now but you are definitely credited in the film itself.
