Character-face Test.

Another tester combining real-time footage with Photoshop, I like this, took me 2 hours overall. I think I will try either a really detailed one, or a less detailed one but with a longer duration.

Tests and stress.

I was pretty annoyed at myself earlier.

I've been searching for work solidly everyday and I'm not giving up anytime soon, I got an email from a guy called Mike who I did a 2 week placement with at Warner Music last December. He asked me if I knew how to use AfterEffects, as this Director needs someone who's familiar with it. Great opportunity right? I couldn't do it as I have never used AfterEffects before, I could of said "Yes! I can do it!" and then fumble about with it, completly wasting their time and resources, so I apologetically turned it down and realized that I need to step my game up. I'm going to teach myself AfterEffects and other Post-programs for moving image.

I played around with this small snippet I took earlier, rendering video on Photoshop, seeing the logistics of how Rotoscoping could be done, even though this is very short and basic, it took a little while longer than anticipated.

So expect to see more soon. Game on!

'Such a nice place' illustration.

Latest illustration, this one took quite a while to do, mainly because it's much smaller than my other ones and due to the fact of the pen I was using (0.5 muji black) the ink took ages to dry on this cheap canvas. Nonetheless I'm pleased with how it looks, bold lines look great and the busy nature of it really serves the small canvas well without overpowering it. Although I'm really annoyed with the text, I'm usually quite good with hand drawn text but I rushed this and wrote it out in pen (Always pencil first Jamie! Pencil!!) realizing I forgot to put the word 'seems' in the middle so had to squeeze it in. So it ruins the balance in my view and just angers the eye. I like the cat though, the voice I had in mind for the text, was one my good friend Adam Grant is familiar with, it's in the Simpsons episode titled 'Grandpa vs Sexual Inadequacy'  it's that guy at around 11:19 makes me laugh everytime, what a voice! Watch that episode actually it's brilliant.

'Noir Showdown' Illustration.

Another from my 'Film Noir' Collection. I love how detectives dress in noir films so I wanted to include some sort of element of that. I chose to go for a Frank Miller of Sin City-esque monochrome, with white outlines which gives a negative type feel to it.

Black permanent marker and black fineliner on canvas.

'Rock 'n Hill' Illustration.

This is one of my most recent illustrations, sticking again to the monochrome and being loosely based on one of McBess' characters. A homage, not plagiarism.

If you are interested or would like to purchase, again, contact details are on the side.

More to follow.

Bobo Freelancing.

I got an unexpected call from Robyn from 'What Is Bobo' yesterday, asking if I could come in to lend a hand with a project because he's swamped in.

I came in this morning to help with this website 'Kidz Cool It' for which I designed the logo for on my placement a couple of weeks back. The website is based on another website (which I forgot the name of) with the idea of one guy submitting reviews to the newest cinematic releases. This one is different in the sense of that the films are reviewed by children. It's in the early stages of development but apparently it has attracted the interest of Disney already. OoOOoooOOOo I hear you say audience, this could be an exciting opportunity for big old jimbo here.
So today, I made an animation for the logo to be scribbled onto the website and at the intros of each of the videos, it's not LIVE yet but keep your eyes peeled in the next few days.

A nice day doing some animating (when Adobe Flash finally decided to agree with me, the bastard), pocketing £40, with also Robyn saying that any future animating/moving image jobs with this project are mine if I want them. Saaaaweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
