Wristy Business

In the pub, a hypothetical band name for two friends 'Raging Sweetcorn' turned into something beautiful.

For Art's Sake - Christmas window display.

As I use this blog to record and show whatever creative mishaps I get up to, this is my latest edition to the list. Over the past month and a half, I've been working on the Christmas window for the gallery I work at, 'For Arts Sake'. I actually had a lot of fun doing this. it's been up for a while but I've been doing some crazy OT because of you festive customers.
I got to go down to the Hendon workshop (where the bespoke framing orders are done for us) to make the fireplace prop you see below so I got to cut wood, assemble wood together, paint wood and yeah wood. Was really good, felt like being in the workshops at school, love that smell of wood. The longer window was done by myself and my colleague Caitlin, with a 'winter wonderland theme' in mind I digitally drew and printed the backdrop, whilst Caitlin arranged the composition of the products. Enjoy the photos below and if you pass the shop when you're in Ealing make sure you pop in and go "THAT WINDOW IS SO GOOD MAN"

Cheers

Chronophonic

Very good mate of mine Louis Valenzuela is getting his band on the go. Check them out, I went to their last gig and was very impressed but the two piece. Louis on Drums, Josh on Bass.

The Nightbus Chronicles i

I started this a while ago without realizing. I usually keep a notebook on my person as I have a bad habit of forgetting stuff and ideas if I don't write them down.
I quite often find my inebriated self getting the night bus back to West London on my lonesome, and I guess these drawings have stemmed from there. It's quite fun listening in on other drunken passengers conversations and you do get some bloody weird characters on the N207 at 3.30am. The following drawings are by no means 'good' in terms of taste, they're rubbish drawings of the people on the nightbus, but I do find them quite funny. Hopefully more posts to follow this:

65 garden drawing.

Click for a closer look.
This was our garden at 65, I did this as a summer project (2009 maybe?) but I never got to finish it. However I quite like how it looks unfinished, because really, aren't all our lives just unfinished drawings?  Hur hur. Only kidding. It looks nice, I love doing tonal drawings with pencil or charcoal, but they do take a while so unfortunately I don't dabble in them as much as I want to. I'll leave it unfinished.

Samsung viral

I was asked by the company Duckeye (whom I had a work placement with last summer) to come back for a paid job as an assistant animator for this new Samsung viral. It looks great, a lot of hard work and long hours, check it out:

Happy Scarday!

A year ago when I last celebrated my Birthday I managed to direct my forehead into a big Irish guy's tooth - accidentally that is, not intentionally. Ended up with this whooper (photo from the morning after it happened, no stitches):

This is what it looked like yesterday (24/09/2011):

Still sligthly there, when I raise my eyebrows it appears. Would quite like to know if it bulks up if I get angry/cold or something. So if you fancy making me cold or angry, let me know what it looks like!

Here is the GIF form which I took over 2/3 months after it happened:

THE BIG FIGHT!

Forgot about this gem - this was a poster I mocked up on Photoshop for our end of term party a couple years back at Elephant and Castle. Good times.

But the fight in reality...

Place your bets..

Leo 'Da Bear' Vick. Undefeated champ of the animal kingdom, was ready to face Maz..

I insisted on a clean fight.

But then it just went awry..

Ahh..

Hmm...

Oh dear...

(Click for a closer look)
I love this photo so much. Jon to the right looks awesome, Leo obviously traumatized on the bed to the left, that's Joe about to lay a punch into me, as I'm the blue shirt trying to save the Strongbow, then there's someone else there as well! Tim Bott I think. Pretty sure another person is in there too.

Growing up?

As promised, the Reading '07 and '08 wristbands are now separated from my body exactly 4 years and 3 years after I went to each respectively. Did feel weird. Nope, they never stank, they were always washed with the rest of me! My wrist feels awfully naked.

Bored? You know what that means...

Colour code all the things!
Yeah!
Yeah...

Such a hipster.

Visuals for Avenge Vulture Attack Launch Party - Video.

Albeit 2 months later than planned, but here it is. A small video I put together of the night myself and 65 made visuals for AVA's launch party. Shame we didn't get a lot of moving image footage during the actual gig itself, I'll ask round to see if anyone has some footage they'd like to share.

Summer iv

Some more..

 IT'S SAND
When I was younger I used to think if you jumped from a great height onto sand that it'll swallow you like water would.

 "MATTHEW HUNGRY"
"WHERE DA FOOD DAD?" "IT HERE MATTHEW"
 "DAD EAT NOW"
 "DAD APPROVE"
Who needs a pet dog when you have Matthew Kyle about.
"I take photos too Jamie, hyuck!"

 'The gang'
Dad and Mum making a quick escape.
 Parp.

Five different types of semiotics, what is this world coming to?!

This isn't edited at all, beautiful colours along Carbis Bay.

That's all my Cornwall snaps. Hopefully will get more of the 'Summer' and get more in the motion of bringing my camera out with me.
